Peter Seibert

Peter SeibertPeter Seibert has composed works for professional and amateur musicians for more than 40 years, and his music has been performed on four continents. He has written in a variety of musical genres including chamber music, orchestral music, choral music, music for Off-Broadway theatre, and works for historical instruments. His output extends from unaccompanied pieces for cello and viola da gamba to works for orchestra and for chorus including two masses and his Requiem (2007).

Mr. Seibert majored in music at Amherst College and holds graduate degrees from Harvard and Rutgers. He taught at The Lakeside School in Seattle for 28 years, during which time he held a simultaneous appointment at the University of Washington School of Music. As a conductor he has led orchestras, choruses, and jazz ensembles. He has worked extensively with early music organizations and has been music director of the Seattle Recorder Society since 1970. He founded and is former director of both the Port Townsend Early Music Workshop and the Northwest Chamber Chorus.
